naturadistill Kawauchi Village Distillery

From Fukushima to the world. A craft gin distillery that conveys the appeal of the land through its aroma.

naturadistill Kawauchi Village Distillery is a small distillery located in Kawauchi Village, Futaba District, Fukushima Prefecture.
We focused on the berries of the indigenous plant, "Kaya" (Japanese Torreya), which has grown wild in Japan since ancient times, to create the "Native Japanese Botanical Gin," a gin that is a signature product of naturadistill and leverages Japan's unique natural aroma.
We use the pure water of Kawauchi Village and carefully selected ingredients, extracting the delicate fragrance of the botanicals through precise vacuum distillation.
Our goal is to create a gin that distills local resources and encapsulates the charm of the land in its aroma, conveying it to the world. We will promote the appeal of Fukushima worldwide through gin.
A restaurant is scheduled to open on the second floor of the distillery in 2026. We aim to develop this as a place that offers unique dining experiences and encourages people to visit.

naturadistill Kawauchi Village Distillery

A distillery that focuses on Japan's native plants and infuses gin with botanicals unique to Kawauchi Village 🌿.

The building, which was once a pharmacy warehouse, was renovated and completed in October 2024 after over a year and a half of work.

Central to our creation is the "Kaya berry" (Japanese Torreya) that grows wild in Kawauchi Village. Furthermore, staff enter the mountains themselves and collaborate with local residents to forage other native Japanese plants such as Kuromoji (Spicebush) and Tachibana (Citrus).

These ingredients are carefully extracted using vacuum distillation. While juniper berries form the foundation, the aromas of Japanese plants are highlighted, creating a unique personality ✨.

Therefore, the gin possesses a powerful aroma that holds its own even when consumed neat, and has a presence that is never buried when layered with other ingredients.

These characteristics are highly regarded by bartenders and restaurants across Japan, and our reputation has spread, attracting attention from overseas 💫.

"We want to create a framework where people can experience the nature of Kawauchi Village through distillation experiences and botanical foraging tours." — Mr. Takahashi, Head of Distillation (Name not found in glossary, romanized).

Gin production that reconnects nature and people. Its aroma will continue to spread from here into the future.
