Okukuji Hanawa Distillery, surrounded by the rich nature of Town Of Hanawa, Fukushima Prefecture, succeeded a location where shochu had previously been made and revived locally sourced shochu production.
The representative brand "MIZUMARI" is characterized by a clear, unadulterated taste created through vacuum distillation. The subsequent "KUROMARI" is highly regarded as a drink that pairs well with meals, offering a fragrant, well-rounded flavor derived from black koji.
We deliver shochu that combines tradition and innovation, utilizing the blessings of Fukushima's water and barley.

Okukuji Hanawa Distillery was established in Town Of Hanawa, Fukushima Prefecture, a place surrounded by rich nature and clear water. We have revived a land of shochu production that was once dormant, and now deliver barley shochu unique to this town.
The core ingredient is barley cultivated in Town Of Hanawa. It is harvested in the autumn and carefully threshed at our own factory. The soil and water of this "well-watered town," through which the Kuji River flows, nurture this bounty.
The water used for brewing is Town Of Hanawa's mineral-rich hard water. Vacuum distillation is used to suppress unwanted flavors, resulting in a mellow and clear taste.
The representative brands are: 💠 Mizumari, with a light mouthfeel 🔥 Tomari (not listed in glossary, so romanized), with a powerful finish The story of Town Of Hanawa lives in each one.
It has been only five years since the establishment. Thanks to the skill and passion of the artisans, including Senior Managing Director Aoto (not listed in glossary, so romanized), we have received numerous awards both domestically and internationally 🏅. In every glass, the savory taste of barley and the rich aroma unique to hard water are softly blended.
