Rice Shochu "nekka" with a rich Ginjo Aroma, moving forward with Okuaizu Tadami.

Nekka LLC, established by rice farmers in Okuaizu Tadami Town, Fukushima Prefecture, manufactures rice shochu using their own cultivated sake rice based on the philosophy of "connecting the region's rural landscape to the next generation." We combine distillation techniques with Fukushima's renowned Japanese Sake brewing techniques. The shochu is characterized by a gorgeous Ginjo Aroma, similar to apples, and a gentle sweetness derived from rice.

It has been highly evaluated and received many awards in domestic and international competitions. Furthermore, our collaboration with local agriculture has been recognized, leading to numerous honors such as the "Japan Agricultural Award Grand Prize." We are transmitting a new rice shochu culture from Tadami to the world, conveying the climate and the spirit of the people of Fukushima.

"nekka Okuaizu Distillery," nestled in the majestic nature of Tadami Town in Minamiaizu.

"We want to use local rice and create a drink that brings joy to the local community."

In order to pass down the beautiful rural landscape to the future, this is an authentic rice shochu distillery that started by cultivating sake rice together with local farmers.

It is an area of heavy snowfall, with 3 meters of snow accumulating in the winter. In this land where natural beech forests spread, Representative Yoshihiro Wakizaka renovated a vacant house next to a rice paddy and opened the distillery. They use only premium sake rice from Tadami Town and carefully prepare the mash using yeast that utilizes sake brewing techniques.

From distilling 400 liters of fully fermented moromi (mash), only about 120 liters of shochu are produced. By distilling at an ultra-low temperature of 30°C, the rich Ginjo Aroma stands out, resulting in a fruity, one-of-a-kind rice shochu.

Additionally, as an initiative connecting the community and the future, they conduct a project where shochu prepared by local fifth graders is handed over to them at their coming-of-age ceremony 9 years later. This aims to help children cultivate an attachment to the landscape and rice paddies where they grew up, providing an opportunity for them to return to their hometowns after they mature. Through sake making, they aim for the "inheritance of the local story."

In the tasting room, paid tastings and the purchase of local specialty products are available.
You can experience the world of highly aromatic rice shochu, where the nature, culture, and people's feelings of Tadami become one.
