WINERY JUN

We aim to be an engaging winery where you can experience the present of Fukushima with all five senses.

The Aizu region suffered severe damage to tourism and agricultural products due to harmful rumors following the earthquake and nuclear accident. Based on this experience, we established our company with the desire to make the region a safer, more sustainable circular economy society. Our goal is to revitalize the region through the development of new products and services based on "renewable energy + agriculture + tourism."
In 2020, we finally acquired a brewing license, planted grapes utilizing abandoned farmland, and established the Kitakata winery, which utilizes a former ramen factory.
As the prefecture's smallest micro-winery, everything is done by hand. Our meticulously crafted, unfiltered wine and cider, which have minimal preservatives, allow you to enjoy the genuine, concentrated fruit flavor.

WINERY JUN was established in 2020 in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture. Today, the wine and cider produced here are capturing the hearts of discerning wine enthusiasts and local residents alike. 🌿

The winery's journey began with the hardships faced by local apple farmers. Due to lingering reputational damage and strict market standards, many carefully cultivated apples were being discarded. Driven by a sincere desire to "protect the treasures of this region," this brewing facility was founded.

🍎 Kitakata Cider
This brand represents the winery's origins and its mission to support apple farmers. Every single apple is hand-washed with a brush and undergoes a thorough manual inspection. This dedicated craftsmanship results in a clean, dry finish that redefines the conventional image of cider.

Furthermore, the winery reclaimed abandoned farmland that was once a soba (buckwheat) field to start a vineyard 🍇🌿 from zero. Despite ongoing battles with snow damage and wildlife, they have nurtured their grapes step-by-step using fertilizer-free and reduced-pesticide cultivation methods. Currently, three varieties are grown in their own vineyards: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The winery also fosters "experiences" and "community interaction" through its "My Wine Making" membership program and agricultural workshops. This experiential wine-making 🍷✨ is carried out alongside enthusiastic members who are "ready to get their hands dirty for the harvest." The process covers everything from harvesting and traditional grape-treading to a party where members apply their own labels. Each bottle encapsulates the year's weather and the memories of the participants.

In terms of brewing, WINERY JUN focuses on non-filtered methods to allow for the full taste of perfectly ripe grapes, aiming to create pure wines by keeping antioxidants to a minimum.

By repurposing unused terraces into gathering spaces, the winery is taking on a warm yet powerful challenge: "rebuilding regional connections through wine." This initiative is adding a new vibrancy to the local culture of Kitakata.

We invite you to enjoy the story contained within each blissful glass.
